Theme Day - Superheroes!

Ollie loves The Avengers at the moment and Phoebe is doing a Superheroes theme in English so it was a perfect theme for some lockdown fun last weekend.
Here's what we got up to:-

đŸ’„Phoebe’s English project involves an arch nemesis called The Butcher who she throws pink grenades at. I stuck a picture of her enemy to a cereal box and they had to knock him over with as few grenades (pink ballpit balls) as possible.

đŸ’„ Ollie & Phoebe painted peg doll sidekicks and villains to go with the heroes I made them and then made up a story using a Happyland cityscape

đŸ’„ Thor Maths game - I put balls of play dough next to chalked numbers on a tuff tray and they had 90 seconds each to solve as many sums as possible by smashing the correct numbered ball with Thor’s hammer (a modified toy hammer)

đŸ’„ Iron Man’s Maze - guide each other blindfolded through the maze using a magnet

đŸ’„ Spider-Man’s Web Challenge - probably do this one outside unless you’re about to decorate like we are 😂 - we stuck a ‘web’ of wool across the stairway with blu-tac for them to climb through. They spent ages playing on this one!

đŸ’„ Captain America’s Shield - we made our own shields by decorating a paper plate and sellotaping a paper arm strap on the back. We then tried them out by seeing how many ballpit balls we could bat away in 30 seconds

đŸ’„ Hawkeye challenge - I made a target, again out of a paper plate!, and we took four shots each with Phoebe’s toy bow & arrow to see who could get the highest score

đŸ’„ Family Heroes - I don’t know if there’s a name for this game (anyone know?) but we each drew a Superhero head then folded the paper over so just the neck was visible & passed it on, the next person drew the body, folded & passed it on, the third drew the legs, folded & passed it on and the final person opened it, gave them a hero name & showed it to the others. We loved doing this one!

đŸ’„ Beat Thor’s Hammer - Superhero themed ‘Mallet’s Mallet’ with an inflatable hammer! For those too young to remember Timmy Mallet 🙈, two people take it in turns to say a word which relates to the previous word. No repetition or pauses allowed or you get a bop from the hammer!

đŸ’„ we finished with some superhero books & watching ‘Sky High’ on Disney+

This was a big hit and some much needed family fun after 3 weeks of home schooling. It was all very easy to set up too and everything I used was from around the house đŸŠč‍♀️
