Halloween Craft - Making Mummies!

We've had a pack of cardboard figures from a pound shop sat in the craft box for quite a while now so because Ollie & Phoebe keep asking for Halloween activities (it's a real favourite time of year in our household, their excitement about it is infectious!) I thought we'd use them to make mummies.

First of all, we painted the non-shiny side of the figures black. I put a piece of paper underneath which had the added bonus of creating a creepy silhouette that we'll probably turn into zombie pictures tomorrow!

Once the paint had dried we stuck googly eyes on with a glue stick & then started to bandage them up! I've seen this done with string before but we did ours with masking tape. I cut the strips of tape in half lengthways so we could be more specific where we put them but you could use it as it comes if you want to bandage them up more quickly!

All of us really enjoyed this activity - you could see the mummy coming together early on so it was a satisfying process. It's a good opportunity to practice fine motor skills as they were really careful to wrap their bandages round neatly & also a great chance for them to complete a project entirely on their own, encouraging independence & creativity.

And what cute little mummies we made! 😍😆👻
