Conker Fun with Play Dough - Comic Relief / Red Nose Day Activity

I love adding loose parts to play dough and seeing where their imagination takes them. Conkers, pine cones, pipe cleaners & googly eyes all work well.

This was a more directed activity on this occasion as I did it for my two on Comic Relief/Red Nose Day. But as it is currently Conker Season I thought I would share it now! I painted some conkers red and then invited them to make some funny Red Nose faces using play dough, pipe cleaners, feathers, pom poms, googly eyes & sequins.

It was nice to carry on the Comic Relief fun after their 'wear red' day at school, as the TV show is aimed more at adults. Phoebe enjoyed cutting up sequins to give her face spiky hair.

Ollie came up with the genius idea of making various different noses for his face, just like the actual red noses come in various designs. My favourites were his alien and Rapunzel ones!

He also made a mermaid, poop emoji (of course!) & a funny face.

You could do this within a circus theme to make clown faces or alternatively paint the conkers various colours & see what the children turn them into. The children could paint the conkers first themselves to add an extra stage to the activity & also give them more ownership of the resulting creations. Or just use them as they come!
