Sweet Factory Day!-Part 2:Making Strawberry Chocolates
Once Ollie & Phoebe had finished making water bead sweets in the garden and we'd got cleaned up, I suggested we make some real sweeties in the kitchen - strawberry chocolates!
Now these sweets didn't look particularly pretty but they tasted sooo good and the kids loved making them, it was so straight forward so other than handling the hot bowl, they could do everything themselves.
They started by chopping up washed & hulled strawberries into small pieces and putting them into silicone ice cube trays. As strawberries are soft enough to cut with a butter knife, they could do all the chopping themselves.
Next, they broke up a chocolate bar into chunks and we melted it in the microwave before spooning it into the silicone moulds and putting it into the fridge to harden.
They were quite messy & juicy when we took them out of the trays so we ate them in a bowl with a spoon for pudding but they were really delicious. Next time we do it, we'll probably try putting chocolate in first, then the strawberries, then some more chocolate - maybe a layer of milk & a layer of white! 😋
