Maths Fun in the Sun - Outdoor Number Target

Thank you to Chatterbox Numbers, Phonics & Story Time for inspiring this one! This was so quick & easy to set up - a tuff tray leant against the wall (I did them one each since we have two), write some numbers on in chalk and wash off a specific number with a water pistol. As we only have one pistol, they took it in turns to remove their number with a wet brush instead.

This was a great way to practice our Maths without feeling like a lesson. Phoebe wanted to help set it up so she drew the numbers on her tray, practicing her number formations.

Rather than just giving them a number to brush/aim for, I gave them a sum each and they had to wash off the correct answer - 5 year old Phoebe's were addition & subtraction whilst 8 year old Ollie had multiplication & division plus spotting the prime number.

You could do this activity on a brick wall if you don't have a tuff tray - we drew a chalk target on the wall for them to squirt the centre of whilst waiting for the trays to dry again!
