Nature Art

On the way home from the park a couple of weekends ago Phoebe got off her bike to put some pretty pink flowers she'd spotted on the floor into her bike basket. It became a bit of a game with the two of us picking up helicopter seeds, interesting leaves and pine cones. She wanted to create something with them so when we got home I put them on the garden table with paint, paper and glue and Phoebe & Ollie started to paint.

Unfortunately it began to rain before they started to add Phoebe's collection to their paintings so we quickly brought everything inside onto the dining table. At this point Ollie wandered off and Phoebe started a new picture, sticking her treasures to a fresh piece of paper.

Once she had finished her artwork there was just a pile of helicopter seeds left. Ollie had reappeared so I quickly got two pieces of paper and stuck the same amount to each sheet in varying positions, some on their own and some in pairs. I gave them a sheet each with the challenge to turn all the seeds into pictures. They had great fun thinking of ideas - birds wings, petals on a flower, helicopter propellers, hairdos - and sharing them with each other.

They took great pride in their artwork and talked through their ideas with me & their Dad once they'd finished. Lovely to see where their imaginations can take them! 😊
