Trip to the Dentist tuff tray activity

Thank you and credit to Paula Seddon who inspired this one! I saw her version of pop bottle teeth on Facebook group 'Tuff Tray Ideas' and loved it so decided to do my own!

My kids have asked for this one to be set up again several times. We did this in the tuff tray but it could be easily done on a floor or table.

I cut off the base of several 2 litre pop bottles and painted the inside of them white to look like teeth. I didn't want them moving around so I cut holes in a thick piece of cardboard to slot them into and a paper tongue stuck in the middle made it look more like a mouth.

I came up with the idea of using whiteboard markers to draw germs and bits of food on the teeth and then the children used toothbrushes with toothpaste and a tub of water to scrub the germs off. A good opportunity to chat about dental hygiene whilst having fun and to show them how to clean their teeth properly. They really enjoyed drawing the germs back on the teeth themselves too once they'd dried out, ready for the next brushing!
