Scavenger Hunts
Scavenger hunts are a good addition to a day out that involves a lot of walking. The children love the excitement of finding an item and ticking it off and I find it encourages them to really look around and take in all the sights, plus a good chance to practice mark making!
I did this hunt today for Phoebe and her friend - the boys of the house are both off on their own adventures so we had a girls day with a couple of friends at a local farm. Animal poo is always a good one for the humour factor. (I know my audience!) I included 'something that begins with the same letter as your name' so that they had to find something different to each other for one of them.
Today I also added a different twist by asking them to find something they loved and something they found magical, I was interested to see how they would interpret it - both girls chose their favourite animal as something they loved and "the enchanted forest" (a small woodland walk that Phoebe's friend had named) as their something magical.
