Photo Play - Fun With Images

I was talking to a friend today about enjoying watching programmes when the location is familiar and it got me thinking about how popular personalised books are for children - I think it's the same kind of feeling, that sense of familiarity & ownership.

My two & their friends were absolutely delighted to see themselves in the story when we celebrated The Tiger Who Came to Tea a few months ago so I couldn't resist leaving the leftover photos out for Ollie & Phoebe to play with the next day. I put them on the table with paper, scissors, pens & glue sticks but no instructions - I wanted to see what they would create, if anything!

They were very excited when they saw them & started work straight away! Ollie decided to create a joke book with a friend on each page telling a joke (I can't find it to photograph unfortunately) and Phoebe wanted to make her own version of The Tiger Who Came to Tea.

I would really recommend photos of the children & people they know to engage them in a different type of craft. There is something very appealing about seeing themselves & their loved ones included in their artwork. You could leave it open-ended like I did or give them a challenge - stick a photo of their face on a piece of paper & ask them to turn themselves into a superhero maybe? Could Mummy & Daddy be their sidekicks or arch enemy?

I would love to see their masterpieces if you give this a go!
